At first glance, you’d probably think he’s just the quiet & reserved kind of person walking by the hallways of SDA, but the moment you see his Photography, he’d instantly have an impact on you. Tim Serrano, an AB-PHOTOGRAPHY Major, clearly he has his own medium of expressing the way he sees things. His mind is an open canvas for the creativity; He looks at anything and transforms it into art.
He is also part of the Benildean Press Corps, the official Student Publication office of the college and has contributed several of his outstanding works there. It’s not a question that Tim’s photography is admired by many.

Looking at his photographs, you’d need a few seconds in determining if it was captured in someone’s dream or in actual reality. Even though we all know it’s photographed in the real world, we still can’t help but get that surreal feeling. His photos are very dream-like, and they strongly communicate with the audience. Looking at his photos makes you try to dig deep into your memory, because they seem to be coming from missing pages from the past.

It not difficult to love his photographs because somehow it is very much capable of reminding you of lost dreams and fantasies you had in your childhood. They seem to be silently screaming inner thoughts and feelings that you can’t seem to put into words. You can hear Telefon Tel Aviv’s Fahrenheit Fair Enough playing in your mind as these photographs slowly transfer you to another place in time.

Rupert Tandoc is a person with a realistic sense of style as is his passion for photography. Currently a student of AB-PHOTO, the former Multi-Media Arts student is as direct and outspoken as he is. The former SPO member started his professional career when he was just 18 years old. We wouldn’t be surprised why Manila Bulletin wanted his skills shown on their paper. One of his first tasks from Manila Bulletin were to take images for UPCAT in UP and Pinoy Dream academy.

The professional photographer has traveled to numerous destinations because of photography, he shares. He believes that photography is capturing that golden moment or exact pose, angle, time and lighting. He is not only as artistic and skillful as his photos say but the 22-year is also very well knowledgeable when it comes to marketing and practicality in the industry.

Why We Think He’s Awesome: Most photographers nowadays depend the result of their photos on Photoshop but as much a possible, Rupert doesn’t depend the outcome of his Photographs on photo-editing programs; he believes in the skill and talent on photography alone. His works are manifestations of his principle and he is very comprehensive when he plans lighting on his shoots. For him, the sun is the most beautiful source of light and therefore it shouldn’t be overlooked.

A few weeks ago, I was in the SDA elevator when a group of girls were lively talking about outstanding photographers in school and I couldn’t help but eavesdrop on their conversation. I quote them saying, “Yun, si Aldrich magaling talaga.”
It was quite pleasing when we sat down with the 22-year old photographer, Aldrich Lim, when we talked about his passion for photography. Initially, he was taking up Multimedia Arts when he realized that it wasn’t entirely what he wanted to focus on, thus, he decided to shift and focus on his passion, photography. Aldrich is also part of the Benildean Press Corps since he was in first year college. His photos have been featured a number of times on CSB’s official magazine, newspaper, and other publications.

Its no doubt that Aldrich has traveled to different destinations to capture significant images of culture, people, events and sceneries. His photographs are amazing enough to make you wish you were there at that exact moment witnessing the view yourself. Its not a surprise when we found out that his works were already featured a couple of times on Digital Photographer Philippines Magazine, after all they really are captivating yet very realistic.

Why we think he’s awesome: Aside from capturing scenic & beautiful images, he also captures the devastating side of reality such as poverty, misfortune and calamities. For some photographers, they take pictures because they are required to as part of their jobs for newspapers or magazines. But for Aldrich, capturing these scenes of misfortune was his personal choice. Its quite remarkable for him to brave calamities such as fire disasters and bloody rallies considering these to be very risky incidents. It takes a different kind of courage to be able to handle situations like this.
